The predecessor to StarStar® is text messaging to a CSC (Common Short Code), which has shown promise in certain markets, yet wide spread adoption has been limited. A number of text messaging challenges have accounted for its limited use; too many clicks are required to get content, campaign management is complex and costly and performance can be unreliable. StarStar offers a solution that can simplify and speed go-to-market time and multi-Carrier campaign management as highlighted in the table below.
Mobile Marketing: Texting vs. StarStar

| Subscriber Experience |
Engagement is time-consuming and cumbersome. Content not targeted to individual consumer. |
Consistent and engaging with easy information access. Rich media choices deliver top quality subscriber experience including SMS, MMS, WAP, and Voice. |
| Delivery Channel |
Complex with multiple hand-off points. Requires coordination of content provider, application provider, aggregators, wireless service providers and end user. |
StarStar dialing works on any mobile phone. In the carrier network, no hardware or software is required. The carrier simply ‘enables’ **wildcard as a dialing sequence once in each switch to enable the entire StarStar dial code space. |

| Campaign Management |
Complex and time consuming. First, must select short code through CSCA, build campaign, then select an aggregator that fits campaign needs, gain approval, and launch, then continuously monitor the subscriber experience over different carriers and different locations. Must monitor failures or SLA violations. |
Simple. Campaign design and self-management tools are available from Zoove. |
| Performance |
Inconsistent. Messages can get delayed or lost. Response times can degrade during busiest hours of the day. |
Reliable and intelligent. Using SS7 signaling, Zoove resolves a **code, detects the device type and location and instantly sends an ‘intelligent’ response type back to mobile device. |
| Cost |
Pricey. Average cost for a brand name specific CSC: $12,000 per year |
Affordable. Brand name specific StarStar are available at different price points depending upon advertisers needs. |
