Joe Gillespie
President & Chief Executive Officer
Joseph Gillespie joined Zoove as President and CEO in 2010, overseeing all business operations and strategy for Zoove. Under Joe’s leadership, Zoove has launched StarStar Numbers across all of the top wireless carriers in the US, reaching 95% of mobile consumers, and announced its first major campaigns with brands including: Suzuki, 1800Flowers.com, Good Morning America (ABC), The Early Show (CBS), cable programming networks, consumer packaged goods companies, and others.
Joe joined Zoove after stepping down from an accomplished career at CBS, and initially serving as an advisor to Zoove’s Board of Directors. Most recently, Joe served as executive vice president of CBS Interactive Technology & News, which includes CBSNews.com, CNET.com, CNET News.com and Download.com. At CBS, Joe was responsible for vision and execution, ensuring that CBSNews.com continued to complement CBS News broadcasts in an innovative manner, and CNET continued to lead the market in developing engaging, authentic brand experiences.
Joe joined CBS after it acquired CNET Networks for $1.8 Billion in 2008. Joe joined CNET in mid-2004 as chief marketing officer, and eventually oversaw CNET’s Web 2.0 strategy, including several brand extensions to attract new audiences and advertisers. These extensions included CNET TV, Webware.com, Crave.com, Car Tech, and the CNET Blog Network.
Prior to joining CNET Networks, Joe served as executive vice president, chief operating officer, and acting chief executive officer of Paul Allen’s Vulcan Ventures’ TechTV, which was acquired by Comcast in 2004 and merged with G4. Before his tenure at TechTV, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer of ZDTV, a Ziff-Davis, Inc. Company. He also served as executive vice president of corporate sales and marketing for Ziff-Davis, Inc, a pioneer in the development of trade press with publications like PC Magazine. Joe spent his early career in sports media with companies including CBS Sports, National Broadcasting Company and Sports Information Database, Inc. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications from Rutgers College and is a current member of its advisory board. Joe lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and his pet black Lab. In his free time, he enjoys music, cars, golf, and hiking in the Marin Headlands with his dog.
Tim Jemison
Founder & Chief Operations Officer
Timothy Jemison is an accomplished communications and technology executive with proven success in entrepreneurial ventures and in launching and developing startup companies into viable commercial enterprises.
Prior to cofounding Zoove, Jemison served as Director of Sales for Appiant Technologies (NASDAQ: APPS), a software applications and communications infrastructure organization, providing hosted carrier class Unified Messaging solutions for service providers (Wireless, ISP, LEC’s, ASP) and large enterprise customers. Customers included AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless and Verizon Landline.
Mr. Jemison was also Vice President of Operations and Chief Technology Officer for CollegeLink.com from September 1999 to May 2000. He was a Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer for Online Scouting Network, Inc., an Internet-based athletic recruiting service. Mr. Jemison was featured on the cover of ‘Success Magazine’ in November 1996, describing the $1.5 million angel investment he secured for Online Scouting Network from 15 professional athletes. Mr. Jemison holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University.
Mark Ewen
Senior VP, Sales
Mark Ewen has been in the mobile/wireless industry since the mid 90′s. In 1996, after several years in sales at Oracle Corporation and a year at NETCOM, Mark joined Unwired Planet (which changed its name to Phone.com in early 1999, and then to Openwave in late 2000). Mark was Area Vice President of Sales focusing on wireless carriers primarily in North America and Latin America.
Mark joined Pinpoint Networks in 2003 (Pinpoint changed its name to Motricity in late 2004) where he served as Senior Vice President of Global Sales. In early 2006, Mark joined Acta Wireless as Venture Partner where he was an advisor to Zoove until he joined full time as President in early 2008. Mark remains involved with Acta Wireless, and now sits on Acta’s Advisory Board.
Mark holds a degree in Business from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, where he served a three year term on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association.
Josh Bulgin
VP, Mobile
Josh Bulgin has over 13 years of experience in business development, account management, solution engineering, program management and product development within the wireless data industry. He is responsible for Zoove’s business development and support for the Mobile Network Operators and other industry partners.
Prior to joining Zoove, Mr. Bulgin held the roles of Vice President , Client Services and Vice President, Customer Operations for Motricity (a leading mobile content infrastructure service provider) where he was responsible for professional services, solution engineering, account management, the program management office, and all content operations and services.
Mr. Bulgin holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the Robert Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park.
Jim Stanley
VP, Marketing & Products
Jim Stanley is responsible for all marketing and product strategy, business intelligence, professional services and customer operations for Zoove. Jim has over 13 years of experience leading product organizations for interactive media businesses, spanning strategy, product marketing, content, product and program management, operations, customer experience, and customer care.
Prior to joining Zoove, from 2005 – 2010, Jim was Vice-President, Products for CNET.com where he oversaw every aspect of CNET’s product strategy and operations. Jim began working at CNET in 1998 and guided many different aspects of CNET’s products and businesses during his tenure, including running CNET Download.com and driving numerous mobile initiatives such as CNET’s first iPhone and Android apps. Upon CBS’s acquisition of CNET Networks in 2008, Jim also helped drive the relaunch of CBSNews.com in 2009. Jim is also the founder of Good-natured Consulting, a successful product strategy consultancy based in San Francisco, CA. Jim is an alumni of University of California, San Diego where he studied Literature/Writing and Economics.
Mike Caffey
VP, Engineering & Development
Mike Caffey has over 20 years of experience in software engineering and has been managing large development teams for many years in both the Telecommunications and Aerospace industries. Mr. Caffey has broad experience in deploying carrier-grade communications systems and joined Zoove to provide technical direction and management oversight for Zoove’s engineering and product validation teams.
Prior to joining Zoove, Caffey was Director of Engineering for SS8 Networks where he led R&D for the organization’s Unified Communications product portfolio. At SS8, Mr. Caffey led the engineering team responsible for both SS8′s next-generation Unified Communications platform the Service Controller 3100 and SS8′s legacy voice messaging platform the Broadband Services Platform. In addition to leading R&D for these products Caffey worked closely with carriers to establish product plans and provide guidance on the product road map for SS8. Mr. Caffey was also an engineering manager for WorldCom, Inc. where, as a part of the Network Development team, lead development of an Enhanced Services Platform focused on Enhanced 800 services.
Prior to joining the Telecommunications Industry, Mr. Caffey worked in the Aerospace industry for two companies developing software for both military and commercial flight simulators. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
Natalie Diggins
VP, Technical Operations
Natalie Diggins directs technical operations at Zoove, deploying integrated systems for StarStar Number’s rapid cross-carrier, cross-device growth in the United Sates. With over 15 years of industry experience, Natalie brings a wealth of knowledge in production engineering, network operations, network deployment, technical support and service activation, internationally and in multiple languages.
Prior to joining Zoove, Natalie cofounded and was VP of Operations for New Edge Networks (acquired by EarthLink), a nationwide telecommunications backbone network provider, helping raise more than $500M in debt and equity. She served as VP of Global Operations for mBlox, the world’s largest mobile transaction network, running worldwide operations. And she was VP for GST Data Services (acquired by Time Warner Telecom), a pioneering telecommunications company, where she was responsible for all facets of the data product lines.
Natalie was also the President of the Central Coast Software and Technology Association, the VP of the Board of Directors of Mission Learning Center, and the Finance Chair of the Women’s Community Clinic. Natalie is an armchair archeologist, is a San Francisco Ballet season ticket holder and loves all things bacon.
